Information Officer I (Specialist)

The California Office of Traffic Safety is seeking a communications professional to join its Communications and Public Affairs team. You will help support the development and marketing of traffic safety initiatives that educate the public and local agency partners on key traffic safety issues.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing media, general education and communications campaigns
• Creating content for fact sheets, correspondence, newsletter articles, brochures, reports, marketing materials, presentations, talking points, scripts, social media posts, and website
• Maintaining regular activity on the Department’s social media channels
• Providing proactive and reactive responses to media
• Supporting external communications
• Assisting with community outreach and education events

Desirable Qualifications

• A creative thinker with exceptional writing and editing skills.
• Knowledge and proficiency in graphic design, video production, social media, word processing and mass communications programs.
• Knowledge and proficiency in principles and practice of public relations, marketing, and outreach.
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with media, other state agencies, non-profits, and traffic safety advocacy groups.
• Ability to work collaboratively on a team and independently under multiple, strict deadlines

The OTS is a Hybrid workplace designed to support remote and office-centered telework arrangements. Our office is conveniently located just off I-5, offering easy access and free parking. This position includes the option to telework except for some in-office days.
