INFORMATION OFFICER I (SPECIALIST)

Are you a storyteller with a passion for public safety and restorative justice programs? Join one of the top communications teams in California state service and help us shape the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) story for current and future generations!

Under the direction of the Press Secretary and the supervision of the Public Information Officer II (Supervisor), the Information Officer I handles media relations, writes press releases and media advisories, serves as a spokesperson to the news media and public groups, responds to crisis communications events, and develops content for department newsletters, websites and social media accounts, as part of the CDCR Office of Public and Employee Communications (OPEC).

This is a hybrid position – mainly remote, with two days a week required in the office. It is supported by other Information Officers, as well as an in-house Graphic Designer, Photographer, and Videographers.
