Deputy Press Secretary

The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) is seeking a Deputy Press Secretary to join our leadership team!

This is a high-profile, high-exposure position within one of the busiest press offices in the State of California, responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and dissemination of communications to various media outlets, external stakeholders, and departmental staff. We are looking for a respected strategic communications professional with strong leadership skills who is able to manage multiple projects, develop effective communications plans and tell a compelling story. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, creativity and is known for their ability to research complex issues and create concise messaging that aligns with Administration priorities.

This is a hybrid position (usually 2-3 days in the office, 2-3 days remote). Telework options can be discussed with Hiring Authority at time of interview. The physical office location is in Elk Grove, CA at the Department’s Headquarters. Periodic travel is required and occasional weekends/evening Administrator on Duty (AOD) rotation is required.
