The External Affairs Division is currently recruiting for one (1) Marketing and Media Supervisor with demonstrated hands-on social media experience with the ability to conceptualize, develop, and execute campaigns in both strategic and creative capacities. This role will focus on building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships while leading and coordinating monthly campaign and planning meetings, ensuring best practices are followed and proactively addressing engagement challenges. This role will also focus on developing and implementing strategies to expand and diversify audiences with a focus on engaging youth as well as multilingual and multicultural communities across varied regions.
In addition to leading and boosting the District’s social media presence, this role may also work in other marketing and media functions such as coordinating public-facing events, including press conferences, ribbon cuttings, and community engagement events; writing talking points; liaising with the media, including responding to inquiries or interview requests and proactive pitching; and helping to produce multimedia projects.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Experience leading creative large-scale marketing, advertising, and public information campaigns related to community initiatives.
• Strong media relations skills, including spokesperson duties and message development.
• Excellent writing and editing abilities across digital, print, and multimedia content.
• Extensive hands-on social media experience, with the ability to both conceptualize and execute campaigns – acting as a strategist and creator.
• Proven experience in sourcing content from cross-divisional sources and reproducing it in a cohesive way that feels unified in voice and branding aesthetics.
• Ability to lead cross-divisional projects, manage timelines and budgets, and analyze performance metrics.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, leading and planning monthly campaign/content meetings, ensuring best practices are followed, and proactively troubleshooting engagement challenges.
• Ability to expand and diversify audiences, developing strategies to engage youth and multilingual, multicultural communities across diverse regions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in journalism, communications, marketing, multimedia production, or related field,
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of responsible experience in communications, marketing, multimedia production, or public information including one (1) year supervisory or lead level experience.
Additional Information:

• Principles and practices of marketing, public information, social media campaigns, and media relations;
• Publication workflows, editorial processes, and website content management;
• Digital communication platforms, multimedia tools, and Adobe Creative Suite;
• Writing for media, marketing, and diverse public audiences;

• Plan, organize, and supervise staff performing communication and marketing tasks;
• Produce, oversee, and review high-quality social media campaigns, news releases, and website content;

• Communicate effectively as a spokesperson and prepare others for public engagement;
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
• Establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work at all levels, including a culturally diverse general public, with a focus on quality service to internal staff and external customers and park users.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Must pass a Level 1 Background Check.
• May be required to attend evening or weekend meetings, events, or multimedia engagements which may be scheduled outside of normal work hours.
UNION AFFILIATION:
AFSCME: East Bay Regional Parks Employees, Local 2428, American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, represents this classification. Wages, hours, and other terms of conditions of employment are covered in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Park District and Local 2428. The probationary period for this classification is nine (9) months.
Internal Promotions: Placement shall be made at the first step in the salary range for the new position (Step A) unless the salary rate at Step A of the new position is less than a 5% increase. In such instances, the employee will be placed at a step in the new salary range that ensures at least a 5% increase.
