Public Information Officer

The California Energy Commission seeks a Public Information Officer (Information Officer I) in the Media and Public Communications Office (MPCO). MPCO collaborates to create clear, concise communications campaigns that tell the CEC story to internal and external stakeholders. Our work increases understanding and awareness, inspires action and empowers decision-making to advance the state’s climate and clean energy goals.

Under the direction of the Media Relations and Special Events Branch Manager (Supervisor II), the Public Information Officer supports the CEC’s overall communications strategy by handling media relations and coordinating public outreach and stakeholder engagement campaigns. The office is looking for an individual with strong writing and editing skills, experience handling media relations, experience organizing outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives, and demonstrated success collaborating with a diverse team and taking feedback.
